At Liber8Now, our mission is simple but urgent: to improve the chances of survival during active shooter incidents
Our solutions are designed to save lives, starting with our next generation of children in schools and extending to any environment at risk of workplace violence. The wide range of applicable environments include:
Liber8Now is focused on one thing: building the premier gunshot detection solution available. We are the “tip of the spear” for active shooter response, providing instantaneous notification that empowers first responders, administrators, and security teams when every second counts. Since we work with all safety and security vendors, you have freedom of action to choose any notification, surveillance, monitoring, or access control system you wish. We believe that the GSR10 is the only deployable gunshot detection solution offering a Form C Dry Contact connectivity option, making it a high value easy to install add-on for Channel Partners and their End User customers.
Liber8Now was founded as a Delaware C-Corp with a mission to create an SaaS solution to protect students during school shootings. We built a functional prototype of an emergency notification system then realized there is an inherent issue with all active shooter notification systems that in order to send out emergency notifications, a human must make a difficult decision under duress about whether an actual threat is present that requires an armed response. Sending out notifications when no threat is actually present causes chaos. Not sending out notifications when a threat is present will cost lives. Every second counts and lives hang in the balance.
Gunshot detection was the logical solution to requiring human beings to make critical decisions under duress. Our research revealed that some gunshot detection solutions being sold in 2023 made inflated claims about their performance and reliability. We felt we could build a better mousetrap. After rigorous analysis of existing solutions, we made a bold pivot. Led by our CTO, Kuldip Pabla, we began developing the GSR series of gunshot detection solutions. The GSR8 (Gun-Shot Response 8) version 1.0 was successfully released in Q1 2025. The product was subsequently rebranded as the GSR10 to more accurately depict the usage of 10 sensors on the device.
Multiple studies and white papers from credible institutions publicized the fact that some gunshot detection systems suffer from unreliable accuracy and frequent false alarms. We curated these test results performed by multiple groups including the University of Michigan, to document the ambitious bar our solutions would have to clear prior to being released for deployment. As a result, our GSR10 avoids the common pitfalls identified in the aforementioned case studies such as being triggered by jackhammers, fireworks, popping trash bags, or any of the other tests our products are required to pass during quality assurance testing.
Flawed gunshot detection solutions with even small incidences of false positives degrade trust and waste critical emergency resources. In life-threatening situations, precision is non-negotiable. The result of our efforts? Fewer false alerts. Faster response. Greater confidence. Lives saved
